ESS Team & Functions


As a Means of Improving Efficiency, and Ensuring Effective, Accurate, and Timely Communications, ESS Has Divided all of the Activities Necessary for the Successful Completion of Your Spiking Project Into Three Distinct Functions:

 

1. Project Manager/Senior Technical Consultant,

2. Field Services Supervisor/Spiking Technicians, and

3. Office Manager/Spiking Coordinator.

 

Because Each Function Requires a Wide Range of Skills and Experience, ESS has Carefully Recruited Highly-Motivated, Seasoned, Responsible, and Multi-Skilled Individuals for Each of These Roles.

 

The Incumbent for Each Position is Identified Below with a Summary Description of Their Relevant Experience. Selected Resumes Are Provided in the Following Pages.

 

1. Project Manager (PM)/ Senior Technical Consultant: Bill Schofield, PhD, PE:

 

Responsibilities: Dr. Schofield has overall responsible for ESS projects from initial project definition; project cost estimating; proposal preparation; project planning including equipment selection; spiking materials specification and preparation; overall project scheduling; off-site technical & trouble-shooting support to ESS Technicians during on-site spiking efforts; and spiking data review and report preparation.

 

Qualifications: Dr. Schofield:

 

    • Has More Than Thirty Five (35) Years of Professional Experience, of Which Twenty Three (23) Years Have Directly Involved Hazardous Waste Combustion (HWC) Regulation, Compliance, Testing (Including Spiking), and Operations;
    • Published More than 35 Papers on the Regulatory, Testing, and Operating Aspects of HWC Devices;
    • Has a Special Interest in the Technical & Regulatory Aspects of HWC Constituent Feed Rate Limits. He Has Published Several Papers on both of the Complimentary Aspects of this Issue:
      • Setting HWC Constituent Feed Rate Limits [Frequently Through the Use of Constituent Spiking], and
      • The Demonstration of Compliance with Constituent Feed Rate Limits [Frequently Through the Use of Statistics];
    • Has Successfully Conducted More than 125 Spiking Projects for Hazardous Waste Combustion and Thermal Treatment Facilities Since 1982, of which More Than 100 Have Been ESS Projects;
    • Conceived and Developed, or Contributed to the Development of Several Spiking Techniques Which Have Become Industry Standards and/or Best Practices;
    • Is a Registered Professional Engineering in the State of Texas; and
    • Has been an Adjunct Facility Member of the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and the University of Texas, School of Public Health, Houston Health Science Center Where He Has Taught Various Courses on Hazardous Waste Management in these Postgraduate Programs.

 

2. Field Services Supervisor(FSS): Rodney Parden

 

Responsibilities: Mr. Parden has overall responsibility for the safe, professional, timely, and cost-effectively operation of all ESS lab, shop, and field functions. His responsibilities include the execution and/or supervision of the execution of all of ESS spiking materials preparation and field spiking services operations:

  • Prepare all ESS spiking materials to meet all specifications [i.e. match the composition specified by the ESS Project Manager (PM) with thorough & accurate documentation]; and
  • Complete every ESS on-site spiking assignment with complete, accurate, and on-target spiking rate results, and to the complete satisfaction of the client &/or the client’s test manager.

 

Qualifications:

  • Has more than 15 years of related experience including 10 years progressively more responsible experience in the Chemical Process Industry as a Board Operator, Outside Operator, and Laboratory Analysis.
  • Board Operator (Operator A) responsible for controlling reactors and distillations columns using a Honeywell DCS Process Control computer system to maintain product specification and production rate.
  • Outside Operator (Operator D, C, B) within the same unit with responsibility for preparing equipment i.e. reactors, distillation columns, compressors, pumps, and psv’s for maintenance using lockout/tag out procedures. Returned equipment to service after maintenance. Collected process samples, and performed operations level maintenance.
  • Lab Analyst responsible for characterizing process flows/compositions including Silane, Ethane, Ethylene, Argon, and Nitrogen. Prepared and analyzed Polysilicane samples and reported analytical results. Performed air samples prior to issuing hot work permits. Calibrated gas chromatography instruments daily.
  • Has substantial experience as General/Project Manager in capital asset leasing with overall responsibility from asset identification, procurement, development, leasing, and lease management.
  • Successfully Completed Two Formal Process Operator Training Courses:
    1. Central Plant Process Operator Training, in addition to other courses at San Jacinto College , and
    2. Operator Training Course at The Ethyl Corporation;
    3. As well as extensive OJT, and
  • Was honorably discharged from the military after serving five years of active duty in the U.S. Army as a switching systems operator.


3. Office Manager/Spiking Coordinator(SC): Aew Johnson


Responsibilities: Mrs. Johnson has overall responsible for execution and/or supervision of the execution of all of ESS’ customer service, project coordination, accounting, IT, and other administrative functions in a professional, timely, and cost effective manner:

  • Establish and maintain contact and open communications with all clients to identify and meet all customer needs;
  • Coordinate all spiking projects [with the ESS PM and FSS] from project definition to the satisfactory completion including the prompt, accurate, and thorough preparation of Spiking Plans, Spiking Reports, Safety & QA plans, SOPs, spiking material PO issuance & materials delivery, etc;
  • Maintain complete and accurate cost accounting records in both electronic form in Quicken and in hard copy form for all spiking projects within a well organized, up to date, and functional overall office filing system;
  • Actively support ESS’ ongoing efforts for:
    • Obtaining ISO 17025 Certification in April/May 2004, and
    • Further develop & refine ESS’ Spiking Plans, Safety Plan, QA Plan, etc, and
    • Satisfying all client required administrative details associated with proposal, report, & invoice submittals; and
  • Maintaining, upgrading, and managing ESS’ IT equipment, intra-net, software, web site, and service providers.


Qualifications:

  • Has More than 14 Years of Related Experience including 7 Years in Healthcare Management, Quality Assurance within University Texas of Medical Branch and NASA Industry.
  • Successfully Conducted a Huge Project for Avionic Upgrade Software Application Departments within NASA for 2004 deadline.
  • Has Substantial Experience as General/Project Manager in Retailed, Responsibility from Asset Identification, Procurement and Development.
  • Successfully Completed Two years of College Course toward Business and Accounting Field.
  • Successfully Maintained U.S. Army Unit in Issuing Military Artillery During Desert Storm War.
  • Was Honorably Discharged From the Military after Serving Two Years of Active Duty in the U.S. Army as Administrative Specialist.
